Banded Squats

Strength Training

Starting Posture

Stand with your feet hip-width apart, toes slightly turned out. Place a resistance band just above your knees, ensuring it is secure and not twisted.

How to Exercise

Keeping your back straight, chest up, and core engaged, slowly lower your body into a squat position by pushing your hips back and bending your knees. Your knees should track in line with your toes. Push through your heels to return to the starting position.

Breath Control

Inhale as you lower down into the squat, exhale as you push back up to the starting position.

Common errors

Some common mistakes include arching the back, leaning too far forward, or allowing the knees to cave in. Check your form in a mirror or ask a trainer for feedback to ensure you are performing the exercise correctly.

Weights

If you want to increase the intensity of the exercise, you can hold dumbbells at your sides or a barbell across your shoulders.

Grips

Variations

To target different muscles, you can try sumo squats with the resistance band around your ankles or add a pulse at the bottom of the squat for an extra challenge.

Comments and tips

Make sure to maintain tension in the resistance band throughout the movement to engage your glutes and outer thighs. Focus on keeping proper form and alignment to prevent injury and maximize the effectiveness of the exercise.

Cautions

Avoid letting your knees collapse inwards or shift too far forward over your toes. Only lower down into the squat as far as you can maintain proper form without compromising your back or knees.
